The perfect light for ultra-endurance gravel cyclists and bikepackers. Vis Pro 1000 Trail blends impressive power with the ability to run all day on portable power. The impressive power provides an ideal range of vision with a pinged reflector to provide punch down the trail. Easily mount on standard or oversize handlebars with a mount that provides enhanced grip to ensure the light doesn't slip during critical downhill sections. Helmet mounting is quick and simple with the included helmet mount; this ultra-lightweight setup is barely felt when balanced on the helmet. For riders that already have GoPro mounts the GoPro interface is included. Backing up the power of the light is reliable construction unmatched in the market. This is the only waterproof trail light with an IP67 rating - meaning the light is certified to withstand water immersion up to 1 meter depth. Ride with confidence, in any condition, knowing the light is up for the challenge. When it comes time to recharge, plug the included Micro USB cable into any 2 Amp charger and the FC (Fast charge) Electronics ensure a full charge in 2.5 hours. From after work night laps to full-on 24 hour racing, the Trail 1000 is the choice for ultra-compact power.

Goodish

Got my light and it was great. Very bright. The only problem is it doesn’t shut off all the way. The led stays dimly on all the time drains the battery some and is annoying.

A solid light for night rides, with a few (minor) reservations

I got this light a few months ago for a bike I use mainly for urban commuting. It's promoted as a "trail" light for off-road riding, but compared to the Vis Pro 1000 Blacktop, the only differences I could find were that this light has a two-toned housing instead of solid black, and has red side lights instead of amber. Otherwise, the light specs seem identical - same power, same running options, same reflector, same battery, etc. Why two "different" lights are offered for different intended uses, and a $10 difference in full retail price is a mystery! Although I rarely ride off-road, I ended up getting this one just because it was offered at a discount.

All that aside, it's a solid light for night riding, though I can only speak from the perspective of an urban rider. It puts out plenty of well-focused light to light up the road ahead without blinding oncoming traffic. My daily commute is only 10 miles round trip, so I can use the highest setting without running out of power, but even on the lower settings, the road is still well enough lit to feel safe. And the pulse/flicker setting is a useful feature for staying visible in daytime traffic. (Not sure what one would use this for in "trail" riding??)

A few minor complaints:
- I wish the attachment system were different. Although the mount's stretchy plastic band that wraps around the handlebar does hold the light securely in position during rides, removing the light daily to recharge it, and reattaching it does change the focus so that the light needs to be readjusted after replacing it each time. Not a deal breaker, but I wish the mount had a more solid handlebar connection.
- Attaching, and removing the light from the mount is also somewhat tedious. There's a fiddley little thumb screw that needs to be removed before the light can be pulled (with some effort!) from the mount. This process is enough trouble that it makes removing the light a big nuisance if you want to take the light with you, while leaving the bike locked up somewhere. You will need to take the little thumb screw with you as well, which means there's a very good chance it will get lost somewhere. (Another reviewer wrote that this did in fact happen to him.) Actually, the light is difficult enough to pull from the mount after removing the thumb screw, that I'm not even sure the thumb screw is needed, except maybe to keep the light from flying off somewhere in the event of a crash, or to discourage theft - though as far as theft is concerned, it would be easy enough for someone to remove the whole mount (with light attached) from the handlebar just by undoing the strap.
- The operating instructions are basically a series of wordless, IKEA-style diagrams that are not very helpful. Trial and error eventually led me to discover that if you press the power button and immediately release it, you can cycle through all four options - high, medium, low, pulse/flash. But if you press the power button from the off setting, and hold it for a second or two until the light comes on, it will just cycle between high and medium. This is not intuitive, so some worded instructions would be helpful. There is also a "lock" feature that seems a little complicated - presumably to prevent the light from being switched on inadvertently in a pocket, or backpack. But the power button needs to be pressed very firmly to activate the light, so it's hard to imagine this light coming on by accident.
- The charging port has a small plastic protective cover that provides good protection from the elements, but is also somewhat difficult to open. Once opened though, with a small screw driver, or (sturdy!) fingernail, the whole little cover assemble easily pops off the light housing, and is something else to potentially lose! The cover incorporates a plastic "hinge", so that the part covering the port is supposed to just fold back, but in practice, the whole cover often pops off unless you hold it in place with the other hand while opening the port cover. One has to wonder also how durable the plastic hinge is, and if it will withstand the wear and tear of daily charging.

Any reservations aside, I still give this light five stars for its basic function as a solid commuter light, and for my past experience with Light and Motion's exceptional customer service. I know they stand by their products, and are committed to keeping their customers happy.
