FAQ

Can I install the e-Bike lights myself?

You certainly can--only if you know about electronics, soldering, have an extensive tool kit, and take safety precautions. There is also very little information provided by e-bike manufactures about taking apart their motors. We do not recommend doing this if it is your first time assembling electronics. Instead, seek out a qualified and experienced e-bike technician at your local e-bike shop.

How do I know if my e-bike is compatible with Nip & Tuck e-bike lights?

Popular e-bike motors such as Yamaha, Shimano, and Brose have been integrated into many e-bikes. Consult your bike manufacturer about which model motor you have and how much Voltage and Amperage it can provide. Compare these numbers to the Voltage and Amperage requirements of the light to see if it is a good fit. It is also recommended to speak in person with an e-bike technician who will know more about the process of installation.

How does the e-bike light compare to a standard bike light?

The main benefit of an e-bike light is that it is permanently installed, preventing theft, and there is assurance that as long as your bike is charged the lights will turn on. LED quality and beam pattern is identical to our standard bike lights.

Install on EP8 motor (Canyon bike)

Very easy to install - I wired it straight into the cable port in the motor bay (at the obvious plus/minus contacts).
Internal cable routing on the canyon was also easy, and thanks to the included flexible strap the light fits snuggly to the oddly shaped Canyon handlebar.
Light switches on/off via the e-display.
Would be great (!) if the light could be unplugged at the light housing, so that I can take it off when not needed. Is that possible?

Awesome Light, I Love It!

I have a Bafang BBS02 ebike kit. Let me start off with what I think is awesome about this light. I am visually impaired but can see well enough to ride a bike. I needed something that would have a wide beam on it and this offers just that! I ride a delta recumbent trike. I mounting it on a ToPeak bar extender and this thing really lights up the trail.

The only thing I think could be improved on is the way the button is pressed when you change modes. In the next model would like to have click button.

I have read the 1 star reviews too, I mean come on it’s just like wiring a lightbulb in your house or car. Really?? Black is ground Red is hot. Put a switch on it, plenty on amazon!

My Bafang kit id built for these kinds of lights, my bike shops made a harness for me and I also own the VIS-TL which os awesome as well. My kit has a light switch on the handle bar controller.

My Bafang kit has a light option it so I did not have to install a switch. I can’t believe some of you didn’t read the description where it said you need technical knowledge to install it!!! Oh duh!!

I really love it so far! Thank you!

Poor firmware

Good light output. Fine design. Very bad firmware design. Can not turn it off. Incompatibility with Shimano system. Very sensitive to power supply voltage during plug in. Enters in an error function which disable light output.

No way to turn off

Decent light output, on the low side, with good beam. Big problem that there is no way to turn it off. Unbelievable but it is a lamp for permanent mounting that is not able to turn off. That should be clear in the description. Will have to bin mine.
