Excellent Replacement for My Urban 500

My Urban 500 headlight stopped working a few days ago, after probably 8 years of use. I suspect that the LED, finally died. This new light is brighter and has better daytime awareness. The daytime mode will go through a few cycles of fading low to high similar to the
old light and then it goes through a short cycle of rapid flashes, which will definitely get a motorist’s attention.

A reliable workhorse road light

This light has been with me on the road for many thousands of reliable miles. The lens and GoPro mount make this an ideal choice for when you need to light the road in front of you and not just be seen. The high maximum power is paired with great battery life on lower power modes. While I rarely need fast charging or to charge while running, the few times a year I do they are a worthwhile benefit. IP67 waterproofing is a rarity and means you can be confident this will keep running in the rain.

Most importantly, Light & Motion stands by their products and provides exceptional warranty service. Most recently I had the USB connector start to fail after a few years, probably hastened by me sometimes charging it while still mounted to the bike. They sent me a mailing label and shipped a repaired light back to me in less than a week after receiving it.

Great Gravel Bike Light

I mainly use this light for gravel bike cycling. During early mornings and nighttime, the light impressively illuminates gravel, particularly newly added layers. The standout feature is its ability to stay securely in place throughout the entire ride. One suggestion for improvement would be to add a couple more notches to the strap, especially for those with carbon bars and thicker gravel-oriented bar tape. With sweaty hands, removing the light can be a bit challenging, although the current length of the strap is just sufficient for this kind of setup. My only slightest smallest issue is for a more straightforward removal option after a long ride, especially when the bike is on a car rack. I would buy this light for friends and family.

Haven't found a better light than this one yet

Our team rides a lot through the night, and we've used a lot of lights in our day. We haven't found one that's as balanced in terms of illumination, size, and battery life as this one. We've used this light on countless rides where we're pushing the limits of what our equipment can do, and the Vis 1000 keeps delivering.

Great light, with room to improve

I've had this light for nearly two years, it's been great. Plenty bright for riding in any conditions, I really only need medium/high modes for fast or technical descents. Battery life has been as advertised, if not slightly better. I use the GoPro mount to attach it to the stem on my bike, there's no unwanted movement or slipping while riding, and it doesn't take up space on the handlebars. The pulse/flash mode is great as a daytime running light.

Things that can be improved/added:

- USB C instead of micro USB
- User swappable lenses with various lens options available (like Gloworm lights) AND
- A StVZO compliant lens or model
- The status LED on the tail end can be hard to see in bright daylight
- ANT+ compatibility, if only to be able see the battery status on a bike computer.

Even without any of the suggestions above being implemented, I would still strongly recommend this light to anyone that's shopping.
