Warranty Policy

Light & Motion products are designed to be durable under normal use.  We proudly warranty Light & Motion branded lights against defects in materials and workmanship for two years from the date of purchase.

Consumables, such as batteries, have a one-year limited warranty. Your battery is designed to retain up to 80% of its original capacity at 350 complete charge cycles. The one-year warranty includes service coverage for a defective battery. If it is out of warranty, Light & Motion offers either a battery replacements service or an upgrade service on a replacement where battery service is not possible. Prices and terms vary.

Where applicable, registering your device activates warranty coverage and streamlines service and support. (Photography and video lights containing serial numbers can be registered.)

We will repair or replace, at our discretion, any product that is found to be defective under our warranty policy.

Verification of purchase date streamlines the warranty process.  Product warranty is not transferable; the customer claiming warranty must be the original owner.

Light & Motion distributes its products exclusively through its network of authorized dealers.  Purchasing lights on Ebay or from a similar online auction or second-hand product outlet will void the manufacturer’s warranty.

Scope of Warranty, Warranty Replacement, and Repair Service

Light & Motion’s Warranty does not cover normal wear and tear, abuse, or normal degradation of the product and battery that occurs over time.

At Light & Motion’s discretion, we will repair or replace warrantied products with lights or parts and components of the same value. Depending on availability, the replacement may vary from the product being replaced with regard to the model and/or color. Light & Motion grants a two-year warranty on a replacement light.

Should your light be out of warranty, our commitment to you is to provide a repair service for as long as reasonably possible. It may not be possible to repair some of the older light systems because some parts may have become obsolete and unattainable. In some cases we may offer to upgrade your older light to a newer model at a discount but this depends on several factors and is done at Light & Motion’s discretion.

Battery Cell Performance, Care and Warranty:

Thank you for investing in our lighting systems.  Caring for your battery is important to maximize your system’s life.

All lithium-ion batteries have a lifespan and performance will naturally degrade over time despite how much or how little use they undergo. With proper battery care a Light & Motion lighting system can last for many years.  Battery performance is affected by charging cycles, below freezing temperature, excessive heat, and storage conditions.  Your battery is designed to retain up to 80% of its original capacity after 350 complete charge cycles.

To maximize your battery’s life we highly recommend:

  • Fully charging your battery prior to first use.
  • Apply a full charge to your battery before storing it.
  • As your battery will slowly discharge during storage, to avoid a deep-discharge state, recharge the unit every 2-3 months. (A deeply discharged battery may not be recoverable and is not covered by the one-year limited warranty.

Light Output:

Light & Motion lights are tested and certified in accordance with the ANSI/NEMA FL-1 Standard within a performance range of plus or minus 10%.  As an industry leader, our performance testing data is published on wetestlights.com.

Water Ingress Protection (IP Ratings):

Most Light & Motion lights have been designed to an IP rating standard, ranging from IP65 to IP68, depending on the environmental and use conditions in which the light is intended for use.

The IP rating or IP code classifies the degree of protection provided by an enclosure for electrical equipment.  All IP rated Light & Motion lights are tested to ensure that the product meets the necessary standard for the product's specific IP rating.

Please take a moment to identify the IP rating for your Light & Motion lighting system to understand the specific degree of water ingress protection the light’s design provides.
