The revolutionary downlight of the VIS LightPool directs amber light down towards the spokes and pedals of the bike, allowing driver's to easily identify the cyclist. The VIS LightPool effect comes from sensors that automatically turns on the downlight once it gets dark to complement the rear facing light controlled by the rider. The beam pattern alternates between downlight and rear facing light.
While most taillights generally direct their power at driver's eyes to create awareness, they fail to provide much information about you. In fact typical flashing tail lights communicate nothing about you - are you a bike? A runner? A road hazard? As noted in previous research, flashing lights destroy a driver’s depth perception, making it harder for a driver to accurately locate you and safely pass.
Our custom optics direct a wide elliptical beam to the rear, giving enhanced side visibility. The LightPool, directed at the road, is rectangular, delivering clear demarcation around the bike with keep out areas for the car to safely pass.
