Why won't my light turn on?  The power button just blinks red.

Your light is in travel lock out mode.  Light & Motion incorporates this feature into all of our lights for storage and travel because there is nothing more frustrating than to pull your "charged" light out of the drawer or bag only to find it discharged.

To unlock, press and hold the power button & the mode button simultaneously for about 4 seconds. The indicator light will blink green 3 times.

To lock, when the light is on, press and hold the power button (clear) & the mode button (black) simultaneously for about 4 seconds. The indicator light will blink red 3 times.  Now it is safe to store your light.

What is the difference between the Vis 1000 & the Vis Pro 1000

The Vis Pro 1000 has two distinct advantages:

1) fast charge - charging the light in 2.5 hours instead of 6 hours.

2) "charge and light" capabilities from a portable power source:  riders can charge their Vis Pro 1000 while lighting the road, or providing visibility as a daylight safety light in SafePulse mode.

What is Race Mode?

All of our bike lights have Race Mode which allows riders to toggle between high and medium with a push of a button.  This is useful to conserve battery power on technical rides - use medium when climbing, use high on descents.

To activate Race Mode, with the light off, hold the power button down for 2 seconds.  To deactivate, turn the light off.

Great light and honored warranty

I purchased this light about a year ago and I liked its design and performance. Unfortunately, after riding in rain and snow this winter it began behaving erratically switching on automatically and not turning on even though it was not in lock out mode. I suspect some water got in through the rubber cover for the usb plug.

I contacted Light and Motion and sent them a video of the issues and they promptly send a warranty replacement for the light which was much appreciated. So far the replacement light is functioning well. I am giving 5 stars for good customer service.

Great Product, and Great Customer Service.

I purchased an Urban 1000 Now the VIS 1000) about a year and a half ago, it has been a great light, I do a lot of training rides before sunrise and it has never failed me. Last week when I was taking the light off of the bike the case split. I emailed customer service and within a day they had verified my purchase (I sent them the receipt) and my new light was on it's way. It is really satisfying to have a company that makes great products and stands behind them. I have been using their lights for years, and now they have me as a lifelong customer. Thanks again for a great product and great customer service.

Disappointing mount and daytime flash pattern.

I purchased my L & M Vis 1000 from a local bike shop about a month ago. I have mostly used it during daylight hours. I noticed right away the "Safe Pulse" daytime mode only flashes every 7 seconds; not nearly frequent enough to be noticed by cars. If the flashes were every second or two, it would be so much more visible for daytime use.

I read that the extra screw on the mount was just for off road use. Since I'm riding just pavement I wasn't using this "extra" screw. This makes it easier to remove light for charging, and to leave the bracket on the handlebar.

Anyway today it fell off my bike while riding on some rough road. By the time I got back to it; several cars had driven over it and smashed it to bits :(. If the mount were designed without this screw, it would be so much better. In my 30+ years of riding, I've never had a light fall off my bike handlebar. Overall I can not really recommend this light because of these two major design flaws.

Another user already commented on this and I agree, The "user manual" is insufficient. A few words of text would really not cost you much, My biggest complaint: how do I know when it is charged? This is not described anywhere. After leaving it charged all night, it still blinks red. Such basic information needs to be easy to find and just a clock symbol with a range of hours doesn't cut it. This is my new (replacement) light and currently I am not inclined to recommend it to anyone. For the price, there are a lot of alternatives on the market.

Excellent light for the $$

Love the power and ease of use of this light. Kinda wish there was another strobe setting that was more frequent than the one it comes with (at my usual commuting speed I can go quite a long ways in the 4-5 sec. between flashes), but other than that I'm very happy with it.
