FAQ

What are the benefits of a Seca over other lights?

Seca offers an external power supply; 2 battery sizes depending on the riders needs. A larger 6 cell offers the most runtime and the 3 cell is portable and convenient enough to place in a jersey pocket or backpack if you mount the seca to a helmet. External batteries are perfect for endurance riding and race scenarios.

What type of riding conditions would I need a Seca?

Seca provides the furthest reaching and broadest beam of any light, ideal for fast technical riding, or to maximize your field of view of the trail.

Does Seca work well on a helmet?

Yes, Seca is a very lightweight and powerful light. Since it has an external battery the 120 gram lighthead is perfect for the helmet. A strap on helmet mount or GoPro adapter part can be used with a GoPro helmet mount for a lower profile set-up.

Same detailed review entered for both Enduro 2500 and Race 2000

Have used Seca lights for over 6 years years starting with a Race 1800 on helmet and VIS Pro trail on handlebar. Wanting more illumination due to increased speed, then purchased Race 2000 for helmet and Enduro 2500 for handlebar. Have investigated/tried competition: Found Seca comparatively provided better value for needed/wanted features. Rationale: (1) I particularly enjoy night trail riding, especially in the mud (but sometimes caught in torrential)—the Seca Enduro/Race lights provide reliable performance with no failure yet experienced. (2) I very much prefer their relaxed, yellow/green cast over the harsh, blueish cast lights (in duration, later way too tiring). (3) [Not speaking to sponsored professional competition]. illuminated footprint is more than sufficient with the 2500 at speed; the 2000 is more than sufficient (1800 just sufficient) on wooded, twisty trails. I find their relatively wide illumination better than most other lights that may narrow their beam to gain front extension. Especially with 2500 on handlebar and 2000 on helmet (1800 as reserve), all is perfect for my needs. (4) No issue with provided mounting hardware/rubber straps: Handlebar-mounted 2500 only moves when repositioned or from a fall which helps prevent breakage - keep strap and bar oil free (wash bike with mild soap/brush). The helmet-mounted 2000 does ‘give’; but only when hit by low hanging branches: which thankfully lessens shock upon my neck (thus, would not use a GoPro-style mount)! This setup best serves extended front illumination (2500) when fast; less power on helmet for providing best 3D shadows; and, head turning to anticipated twists. AND, the brighter light below my eyesight better serves to illuminate in rain where hemet illumination is set lower so rain doesn’t blind while still giving notice of low-hangers. (5) Changing power on the handle bar is relatively easy; but not so with helmet light due to inevitable arm angle: Recommend a more protruding switch bump to better center finger pressure: consider slightly lessening switching pressure without compromising durability. (6) In the 5 years of riding, have snagged the 1800 helmet light numerous times due to my body flexing — thus, immensely abused, eventually tearing outer sheath to reveal its impressively protective, meshed inner sleeve. Cleaned outer sheath with alcohol, then successfully wrapped with quality election tape (at residence in reserve as replaced by 2000). (7) Low battery/auto shut-off feature is effective; providing about (only?) 10 minutes of power even though the light dims to extend its remaining life (consider adding an initial 15 second mild pulse (in consideration of helmet light) (8) Thus, carry spare 3-cell infrequently used for quick replacement when not diligent in recharging when having used at full power - provides 2500 sufficient for returning from furtherest point of my trail ride. Note: I best recharge VIS 180 Pro rear light every other full-power daylight ride (used due to roads crossing, to/from trail—only light go have gained moisture on inside of lens due to unnecessary excessively powerful hose cleanup. HIGHLY RECOMMEND Enduro 2500 (on handlebar) and Race 2000 (on helmet: also as priority if just one light in use for head-directed illumination to twisties; but rain will likely blind).

Excellent repair support

I damaged a Seca Race lens. Paola was quick to reply and super helpful in getting replacement parts shipped to me. Very happy with my service experience and grateful for companies who empower folks to repair things on their own. Thank you!

Very bright!

Impressed with how bright these were! To mount the battery to the bike, I used a spare tube saddle velcro strap around my downtube and it works great! (brap strap I think it's called?) I wasn't able to get the strap provided to work very well or stick with much confidence. Also, I would recommend buying the kit with all the pieces included. I bought the light itself separately without realizing you also needed to buy the charger and battery.
